wdyt of Rian as a girls name - my hubbie loves it and I did too but now I'm starting to panic - is it too trendy? too boyish? too silly for a girl??

if you like it how would you spell it?

Rian
Ryan
Rhian

potential combo's are
Rian Grace
Rian Elizabeth
or
Rian Brynn
your preference?????

(our 3 year old dd is named Kate)
thanks ladies!!!

How about Ryanne? And Elizabeth is a pretty middle name.

I don't want to totally throw you off as you're sooo close to your due date... but I'm a girl named Kyle, and I can personally vouch that going through life with an opposite-sex name is no picnic. Rian is pretty, and it's definitely not as masculine as some boy names on girls (like Hunter for instance). I would go with it if you really, REALLY LOVE it. Like, can't live without it.

If your mind still isn't made up, then I would consider Ryanne, or spell it Rhian, Riane or something to differentiate it. I also really like the name Rhiannon.

The middle name I like the best by far is Elizabeth.

I would spell it Rhian. That is actually a girls name (and I don't like boys' names for girls at all). Ryan is definitely a boys' name, though, Rian looks odd to me, and Ryanne looks like a kre8tiv spelling of Ryan. I have always heard Rhian pronounced Ree-ann, not Ryan, so I don't think people will confuse it with Ryan.

Rhian Elizabeth is nice, and I don't think it's silly or boyish. I also like Rhiannon.

My best friend growing up was a girl named Ryan. She always recieved compliments on her name. I would just spell it Ryan or if anything Ryann. Ryan Elizabeth sounds best imo!

What's funny is my best friend was Ryan and her little sister was a Katie! Just like your two would be....well if you call Kate, Katie.

With a sibling named Kate, she will always be called a boy. Kate is traditional and feminine. Ryan is trendy and boyish.

I would suggest Rhiannon instead. There would still be some confusion over spelling and such, but I don't think Rhiannon would run into the problem of being called a boy, like Ryan would. Or reverse two of your possible combinations ... like Elizabeth Ryan/Rhian or Grace Ryan/Rhian.

If you're willing to try Rhiannon, Rhiannon Grace sounds great.

I absolutely love the name. I would spell it Ryanne i think but know a girl who spells it Ryan. I understand what some of the other girls are saying about her name maybe not going so well with Kate as one is trendy and one is more Classic but I personally love it. I think Ryanne and Katie sound so cute together. I am not one that thinks all names have to be similar in style. I like Ryanne Grace and Ryanne Elizabeth both. Very pretty names.

Do whatever you and DH love.

It depends how you are going to pronounce the name. But if it's going to be like Ryan I'd go with Ryan for spelling. Otherwise I'd like Reann, Ryanne, or Reyanne. I think Elizabeth flows for an MN.

Who knows, once that baby comes you may decide on something different.

Rhian is not pronounced like Ryan or Ryanne. I have always heard it pronounced Ree-ann. Rhian is not less feminine than Ryanne, which is just an odd spelling of Ryan.

I like it and I think I would just leave it spelled Ryan- that way no one gets confused and she won't constantly be having to correct people on the spelling.

I vote Ryan or Ryanne. I really like it and have never really bought into that theory that your names have to 'go' together. I know a gorgeous 15 year old with this name and believe me, she does not get mistaken for a boy!

I love Ryan for a girl. I would use Ryan or Rhian. And I must ditto the PP that said that Kate and Ryan don't go well together. Kate is very traditional and feminine and Ryan is more trendy being that it's unisex.
