I am trying to come up with some Irish boy names because I'd like to honor my dad's side of the family who are of Irish decent. My dad's name was Grady O'Neil and I will definitely be using O'Neil as my first boy's middle name and calling him Neil since my dad passed away when I was 10. I love the name Aiden O'Neil and it is currently the top of my boy's name list (which is a very short list btw). I ran it by my husband this morning and he gave me the reaction I was pretty much expecting. He said it's a little too Irish and too preppy. He did say he didn't hate it and I think it could possibly grow on him by the time we actually have a kid, but I'd like to come up with some other options to fall back on. What are some Irish boy names that go well with O'Neil but are not too out there or preppy?

Aiden is current the number one most popular name given to baby boys. It's a nice name, but for that reason, I wouldnt use it. But that's just me.

So I'm guessing you want an Anglicized Irish name (since your husband said Aiden was too Irish). So names like Patrick instead of Padraig, Connor instead of Conchobhar, or Shawn instead of Sean.

You might want to check out http://www.namenerds.com or http://www.babynamesofireland.com/

I hope that helps!

Thanks. I actually don't care about popularity. Like my girl name, Emma, I have liked Aiden since I was in highschool so way before it became popular. I'll check the sites out though.

Thanks for those links. I looked and I really like Dylan too. I'll run that one by DH as well.
