I was researching name meanings and origins and looked up the origin of my maiden name, Sanders. I found out that Sanders is derived from Alexander and instantly the name clicked with me. Alexander has never been on my list before and never really stood out to me as a name I liked or disliked, but I love that it is a way to honor my maiden name without actually giving my child my maiden name. I brought it up to my husband and he really likes it too. So I am now pretty sure that Alexander will be a part of my first boy's name. I'm sticking with Neil as well so he would either be Alexander O'Neil or Neil Alexander (he would be called Neil either way). I am not sure which way I prefer, but I have plenty of time to figure that out since I'm not even pregnant yet, lol. I'm just really excited because for the first time, a boy name feels as "right" to me as my girl name has felt all along.
