If you had to choose.... which names do you like more of?

Names that end in E: Gabrielle, Isabelle, Sophie, Danielle, Julie, Melanie, Nichole, Pauline, Selene, etc...

Or their "cousin" that ends in A: Gabriella, Isabella, Sophia, Daniella, Julia, Melania, Nichola, Paulina, Selena

Mostly the A names, except that I prefer Sophie and Gabrielle to Sophia and Gabriella. I like Isabella more than Isabelle, but prefer Isabel to either.

Ditto Stiana. I like the less fussy 'e' names. I like Sophia but for the most part, the 'a' group is to girly girl for me.

I like the A names because you can always shorten them to the E names if you want, but the option is there. Like Sophia could be called Sophie because it's shorter. But then I like frilly, girly names.

I am more inclined to like the E endings better. I'm not really a huge fan personally of the frilly, girly names. That is strictly for my own use though, I do think they are beautiful names.

I like the ones that end in A, mostly because they are usually the Spanish version of the name. My naming criteria is that it must sound right in Spanish since that is what my family speaks. Usually there is a spelling difference. Like Gabriella is Gabriela, Isabella is Isabela, Sophia is Sofia, etc. I would normally opt for the Spanish spelling. I didn't for DD because people pronounce Ana different than Anna. I wanted her to be Ann-a in English, not Ah-na. I did spell her middle name the Spanish way, though (Cristina). I had someone tell me Anna Christine sounded better than Anna Cristina, but that defeats the purpose of naming her the way I did!

I love both. Even though the names ending in 'a' are more frilly i think they're great and i love the nickname Ella which which works with a couple of them.
