Which would you choose after outweighing the positives/drawbacks???

Eliana
- means "My God has answered me" or "The Lord has responded
popularity- #282 on the SSL
nicknames- Ella, Elle, Ellie, Elia, Lia, Liana
Positives- The name is beautiful and feminine. Love the nicknames. Not too popular, good meaning
Drawbacks- My hubby doesn't like the full name that much. Says its too fancy. It's not Brielle.

Gabrielle- means "Devoted to God" or "God is my might"
popularity #62 but been on the top 100 list for 16 years
nicknames- Gabby, Brielle, Brie, Elle, Belle?
Positives- It's a pretty name, hubby gets Brielle, good meaning
Drawbacks- Hate Gabby and also don't like how popular it is

Isabella-
means "Consecrated to God" or "My God is a vow"
popularity- #4- been on the top 100 list for 9 years, the top 10 list for 3
nicknames- Issy, Bella, Belle, Sabella, Elle, Ella
Positives- Love the nicknames, very pretty and glamorous sounding, great meaning
Drawbacks- Very common, hubby won't get Brielle

Mattea-
means "Gift of God"
popularity- Not even on the top 1000 list
nicknames- Maddy, Tay, Taya
Positives- Very unique and pretty! Great meaning
drawbacks- don't like the nicknames as much, my hubby prefers Brielle

Sierra- means "black" or "saw-toothed"
popularity- #141..but it was in the top 100 list for 11 years. It just left.
nicknames- None
Positives- Very pretty and exotic sounding, sounds the best with our last name
drawbacks- no nicknames, the meaning sucks, the popularity, no Brielle

I vote for Mattea (love love this!) or Sierra. I think all the Isabelles/Gabrielles are overdone!! Brielle is pretty though. I like that just by itself (not as a nn for something else).

How about Brielle just on it's own?

I found the meaning... "God is my Might"... I think it could definitely stand alone.

Of course you know I love Mattea & Eliana also!

My favorite is Gabrielle, followed by Eliana. I like the nn Liana for Eliana.

Sierra is the only one I don't like, because of the meaning and the fact that I've never known a nice Sierra.

Out of your choices, I vote for... Aubrielle. Hahaha! No really, from your list I think I like Eliana the best.

Gabrielle.

The popularity is fairly low for being in the Top 100, but being around so long means it has staying power. You can't make assumptions about a Gabrielle's age or abilities or experience because there's such a wide range. Other names that just SHOOT up into the top 100 are dated. They're linked to a certain age group and people feel they can "tell" their age or whatever just from their name. Gabrielle isn't dated like Isabelle/Isabella is because it didn't shoot to the top overnight; it's just quietly been at the bottom of the Top 100, hanging out.

Also, Eliana and Mattea are not in the Top 1000 right now, but I'll bet you $10 they are next year. Eliana (and spelling variants, and other El- names) is rising FAST because it gives you the nickname Ellie. Mattea is rising for the same reason (along with Matilda and other Mat- names) because of Maddy/Matty. Plus both of them have that "old fashioned glamour" vibe, like the popular Ava and Olivia.

Off your list, I would vote for Eliana but since every post listed the con as 'it's not Brielle', I'd go with Brielle. It seems like you and your husband love this name. I'd use just be Briells since you don't like the nicknames of the others.

I vote Gabrielle (although I prefer Gabriella) that way you can have a classy pretty name & your DH will still have the NN that he loves.

Eliana - love the name in theory, but coudl see it getting overdone in the near future, which would make it boring.

Gabrielle - i think i am going to have to vote for this. It isn't my style, personally, but based on what i've learned about you and your dh's styles I think it fits. Gabrielle, to me, is a tougher version of Gabriella, I like it much better without the A at the end! And since you love the name Brielle so much this one works perfectly. The fact that it didn't shoot up in popularity means it won't die out anytime soon. It's a nice name with lots of nickname possibilities. Gabby isn't even that bad IMO, but there are so many other nn's that she wouldn't have to use Gabby if she didn't want to.

Isabella - bored, bored, BORED with this one!

Mattea - i just don't like the sound of this.

Sierra - my 2nd favorite for you.

Considering all the drawbacks and positives I'd go with Gabrielle, all though personally I prefer Isabella (Bella / Issie) or Mattea (Mattie)

What about Mattea Gabrielle, Mattea Brielle, or Brielle Mattea? You seem to really like Mattea and I know your hubby wants to use Brielle.. is he ok using it as a middle name?

I'm not a fan of Sierra, Isabella is so popular, and I just dont like Eliana
