Since these two names have the same rhythm, I generally like the same middle names with them. That's why they're the same.
If you don't like Gustav, he would be called Gus, if that makes a difference to you. I also like August/Augustus/Augustin(e), but DF doesn't at all (otherwise it would be one of those instead of Gustav, probably August).
The one name I'm wary of is Benedict ... I like it and all, but we're not religious, and now Benedict's the pope.
Dante is really nice and got my vote. I adore the nn Gus but Gustav just doesn't sound finished to me. I prefer Augustus or even Gustavo to Gustav. I'm not very good with middle names as we honor relatives with the middle name slot. I think they mostly sound fine. The only ones I don't care for are Dante Theodore and Dante Thaddeus. Something about the repeating 'T' sound at the end of the first name and the beginning of the middle sounds off to my ears.
Dang I really love Augustus! Keep working on him for that one! I always think of Benedict Arnold when I hear Benedict. I picked Dante, but sometimes I associate it with "Clerks". Gus is a really cute nickname
