Not modern songs, but folk songs. I was watching a game show with a friend last night and they asked a question about Oh! Susanna. To get the correct answer the woman had to fill in part of the lyrics, the name "Susanna", and she couldn't do it! She had no idea.

That started us thinking about songs with names in them. So far we thought of (from songs that we know the words to, anyway)

Susanna - Oh! Susanna
Clementine - Oh My Darling Clementine
Rose - My Wild Irish Rose, The Yellow Rose of Texas
Molly - Molly Malone
Matilda - Waltzing Matilda
Dinah - I've Been Working on the Railroad
Danny - Danny Boy

As you can see, we thought of a LOT more girls' names than boys' names. Are there any obvious ones we're just not thinking of? Or some that you gals in other countries know?

Wow Lindsey I'm sure I've never heard most of those! But that's quite a list. I didn't think I'd find so many.

The Peter Parker one is odd ... maybe it IS where they got Spiderman's name. But cool!

Well, duh Lauren. I don't like folk music!

The only one I really love is Elise and that's from A Letter To Elise by The Cure. Great song, great band, and great name!

Not a folk song, and off topic, but I was named after the Fleetwood Mac song Sarah!

They aren't folk songs but I always think of Cecilia and Caroline (Sweet Caroline...)
