hmmmm its not the first name that would jump to mind when i think of the nn Kaia. I think it would only make sense if you spelt it Caia, seeing as Calista is with a C and Kaia with a K, wouldnt make sense really.

ETA. or spell is Kalista - but that looks ugly.

Like i said in the other topic, it's a stretch but the sounds are there. Though I have to agree with Katherine on the spelling, I didn't really think about that before, I was mainly thinking sounds

I think if you really want to use the name Kaia but want a longer FN maybe go with something along the lines of Katherine, Katrina, Katalina, etc.
