Do you think the name Miriam is too old fashioned? My husband and I absolutely love it but my mother hates it and said that she wouldn't call her by that name which really makes my DH upset. We really like the name and it isn't very common. What do you ladies think?

Its pretty, but makes me think more of an adult than a child. Or a name that transitions well for both, but that is me. What would make me mad is if I like the name, and name the baby that, then you WILL call the baby what I want and not come up with any nicknames that I don't like!!! But again that is me.

I like it. I love old-fashioned names. I was considering naming my daughter Hazel. If you and DH love it..then tell everyone else (including your mom) tough sh*t...it's YOUR baby..that's all that matters. I couldnt care less what people think about my baby's name because DH and I both love it.

It's not bad but does make me think of an old lady because i had an older Aunt names that. She did go by Mimmi or Mimi for short, which is alot more kid like . It is your decison in the end though!

I like it a lot-and shame on your mom for refusing to call her by that name(if I may say so). I would be upset if I were your DH too. Like someone else said, tell mom she had her chance to name kids, now its your turn.

I knew a girl in highschool named Miriam... and to clarify, I've only been out of highschool a year. No one considered her to have an old ladies name... I think its a really pretty name
