So you gals know Dante is the only boys' name my DH will even consider. I'm willing to live with it ... it sounds all right, I like the historical and literary connections, etc. He will also talk about Niccolo (nn Nico) and Gustav (nn Gus). But he still insists his first son will be Dante. I guess he's saving Nico and Gus for later?
Two of my grandfathers (yeah, I have more than two, long story) share the middle name Thomas, so I'd like the incorporate that. But Dante Thomas sounds awful to my ear. Not to mention I don't like the rhythm (first, middle, and last names would all have two syllables, all accented on the first). Niccolo Thomas sounds a little better, but I kind of wanted to use Thomas this time around (well, if it's a boy anyway!).
Any ideas for names similar to Dante, that work with the middle name Thomas? Other names that could stand in for Thomas, and sound better with Dante? Or should I just save it to pair with Niccolo?
He does really like Lorenzo ... I don't know if that's odd though since my name's Lauren. Is it too close? I have thought about other forms of Thomas too but it's the T that bothers me. The T is really prominent in Dante and then all of them start with hard Ts too.
I know he really likes Dante Gustav too but then we end up with only 2 first names for boys.
I don't know, I might just have to come up with something else altogether for the middle name. He is so hard-headed!
