My friend is having a boy and their top pick is Lane WDYT?

Their other choices are:

Merrill - I hate this
Dane
Cameron

I have a cousin Laine. It's nice. I prefer it for a girl, I think.

I don't like it. I would expect Lane's siblings to be named Street, Road and Avenue.

I can't stand Dane and Merrill, Riley sounds more like a dog's name, and Cameron is okay but too trendy and overused.

I agree with A.L.C.

Although I don't *hate* Merrill, but it looks too much like Meryl (as in Streep) which just seems feminine to me. I like Merrick a lot better.

Off her list, Cameron is the best (and I'm glad she wants to use it for a boy and not a girl... I think Cameron is much better suited as a boy name), but like A.L.C. said, it's very much overused right now.

I like it!! It's MUCH less common than Cameron and Riley which I hear all the time! I'm not fond of Merrill (reminds me of the shoes) but I like Dane!

A few more names that kind of have the same feel are Vance and Vann. You should suggest those! :>)
