We never really have an issue picking baby names. One of us will mention we love a certain name and it's just so happened that the other one loves it too and it becomes our child's name. We've been talking about a name for the next time we try and I think we're both settled on it now.
We generally have the same taste in names, and our son's name (Seamus Padraig Scott) was one we immediately agreed upon (although he wasn't keen on Scott being the second middle name mainly because his brother's middle name is Scott... but since it's my maiden name, he obliged... and he now likes it), and we have totally agreed upon a name for a girl (Rhiannon Caoimhe Siobhan)...
...however, lately we've been butting heads a little bit with names. I wanted to use Finnegan for the next boy, but he's not feeling it (he doesn't hate it, but he's "eh" about it). We finally decided on Conan for the first name, but now we can't agree on the combination. Iain is a must-have for a middle name, and we both love Alasdair. I like Conan Iain Alasdair, but he thinks that sounds weird and he doesn't know how he feels about Conan Alasdair Iain. *sigh* He vetoed some of the names I love like Calum and Aengus (says it makes him think of beef), he's "eh" about Ewan, and I got conflicting feelings from him (at two seperate times) about Deaglan.
I haven't discussed the names I like for a *second* daughter yet, maybe because we don't even have one girl yet, lol... but he'll likely be ok with most of the names I pick out for that one. Saoirse will definitely be one of the middle names, another middle name will either be Brigid, Bronwen, Guinevere, Gwendolen, or Gwenyth. For some reason I really want an "M" first name, mainly: Maureen, Mairin, Maeve, or Mallaidh. He seems to have less conflicting opinions about the girl names.
We both look through a baby book (and I mean the whole stinkin' thing) and write a list of our favorites. So far, neither of us have ever come up w/ the same names on our list, so I'm thinkin' we have different tastes though. However, I liked Autumn, which he had on his list. I especially liked it since we'd already decided to give her my middle name (Rose) and it sounded really good together. I had Hayden on my list, and he liked that one. So it hasn't been a problem... yet.
Thank you Chelsea (marriedc) for my beautiful siggy
