Sibsets, that is. I am going to try to convince DH to name our next baby, if it is a girl, Amaya. The only thing is our current daughter's name is Kaiya. So, yes, they rhyme, but it isn't like we searched out a name on purpose to make them rhyme, kwim? So, does sibset really matter?

the names are too close for my tastes. If you holler them no one can easily tell who you are actually calling. I have to watch that same issues as I seem to like names that either rhyme too much or sounds too close in general.

I usually don't care about sibsets. My feelings are that they're individuals and don't need to 'match' their siblings (within reason). However, these two are way too close in my opinion.

I like Amaya a lot, but it's too close to Kaiya. I don't usually bother with sibling sets as I believe each kid is an individual, but I draw the line at rhyming names.

I agree with the above posts .. They are too similar IMO, but they are both very nice names, and they are YOUR children. You do what you want

Good luck !

To me sibsets are really important. But I know to other people- they don't care at all. So I'd go with what you guys like. Does it really matter to you both? If not, then go for it. I just think it might be tough if you yell for one of your girls because they rhyme, so if neither of them heard you clearly, they won't know who you were calling.

I wanted to name my girl Kristen. My boyfriend has his heart set on Tristan for a boy (if we actually have another in the future). He doesnt want names that rhyme, but I dont have the heart to tell him I will NOT use Tristan if I have a boy. ( I LOVE the name, personal reasons)

I dont think that siblings names have to "match".

I think Amaya is a nice name, but like everyone else said, I just think it's TOO close to your daughter's name. Have you thought about similar names? Like say...

Mia (mee-uh)
Alana
Amira
--Mira
--Mirabel
--Mirabella
--Maribel
--Maribella
Amelia
Ariana/Arianna
Amina
Amara

That's all I can think of for now... but hopefully that helped.

Personally names that sound the same make me crazy cause in our family we have SO many rhyming names:

Brad and Chad (siblings)

Aiden and Caden (cousins)

Neita and Reita (sisters) joined by Janita (niece) and another Neita ( )

Holly and Paulie (cousins)

Paul, Paula and Paulie (parents and son don't get me started!)

Since I'm the Holly listed above and was always with Paulie it made me freakin nuts not to know if someone was hollering for me or him.....

Not to mention all the stumbling we all do when trying to get the right name out!

But that's just my personal experience, name your kiddos whatever you want!

I normally would say stay away from rhyming names, but that sibset doesn't bother me for some reason. Sure, they rhyme, but they are very different names.

It's a personal descion. Names you both like and agree on are very hard to come by. If you like the name use it. I think they are cute as a sib set.
