Living here in Finland I hear alot of REALLY EXOTIC names!!! Some I think won't translate into American life like Ona pronounced "Own -Ah" or Kaapo pronounced "Caah-poe" But some are really nice!
Girls names I like:
Katja/Kati/Katija pronounced "Ca-tii-ya" really nice and is simply Finnish for Cathy
Minna pronounced "Mee-na" dont know what it means though
Taru is wonderful means Fairytale...Marley almost got that one! Pronounced "Tah-(rolled rr) U
Päivi pronounced "Pie-vee" means Day People say that as a daytime greeting Päiva!! or (Hello)
Viivi is cute and Finnish for Vivian pronounced "Vee-ve" There is a funny Swedish cartoon Viivi and Vagner....about husband and wives daily relationships The wife is Viivi and the husband is Literally drawn as a short Pig!! (Ha-Ha)
I have a friend named Sirke dont know what it means but she's really sweet! Pronounced "Sear-kay"
Boys names I like:
Riku...my DH's name...Finnish for Richard pronounced "Re-kuu"
Ari and Ville are both really common Finnish boy names like James or John here. Pronounced "R-ee" and "Vill-lay"
Sisu is for a big boy...Means guts! (You got strength kinda name) Pronounced "See-sue" and say it fast like C-sue!
Kimi is a hot name here now because of Formula 1 race car driver Kimi Raikkonen (One of the highest paid sports athlete in the world)
