Or would you guys prefer Gabrielle? I think Brielle is more unique, which is why I'm leaning more towards just Brielle right now. I always wanted my children to have a more unique name.....
Do you think you'd want to give your daughter a more formal, common name and then call her the nickname? Or do you think Brielle sounds like it could stand alone?

I personally prefer Gabrielle with the nickname of Brielle but I do think it can stand alone as a name for sure. I just like Gabrielle a little bit more and it seems just a bit more fuller than Brielle.

I like it alone. I'm kinda over all the Gabrielles/Gabriellas out there.

It can stand alone because she can go by Bree or Elle still.

I prefer it as a nickname for Gabrielle. For one thing, Gabrielle isn't that common. It's not unique, but neither is Brielle, because I've seen Brielle as a full name a few times. I think Brielle is getting more popular, because I'm seeing it more often, and even if it seems less common than Gabrielle right now, in a few years, Gabrielle will be uncommon, and Brielle will be everywhere.

Also, as someone who used to be called by a nickname, I think it is always a good idea to give a child a full name and only call them by the nickname. My parents used to call me Annie, but I would hate to have to put that on everything and use it in formal situations. It sounds like a nickname, and so does Brielle.

If you put Brielle on the birth certificate and call her Brielle all the time, everyone else will call her that too. People probably won't even know her real name is Gabrielle, but if she wants to use a more formal name when she's older, or if she has ten other Brielles at her school, she can use Gabrielle.

Yes and I really prefer it to Gabrielle. Gabrielle was number 62 in popularity in 2006 and Gabriella was 50. Brielle was number 459. Much less popular. She has a much greater chance of having 10 Gabrielle's at school then just Brielles. I think it's cute, spunky and feminine without being super common.

I think Brielle is gorgeous, and also, from what I know about you and Nolan and your name prefrences, I can't see you with a Gabrielle/a. I think Brielle is great!

I like it better on its own! I think its can stand fine by itself since its two syllables and has nickname options. I really like it

If you're not that crazy about Gabrielle, just go with Brielle! It's a lovely name, well known enough that she won't be explaining herself but not hugely popular at the moment.

I love this name! I would definatly go for Brielle and not Gabrielle (as Gabrielle is extremely popular right now).

I see on the baby name sites it's supposed to be pronounced Bree-ELL however I also like the sound of Bry-ELL.

How does everyone else pronounce it??
