Since a lot of you ladies are good with names all and I'd figured I'd ask you... When I was pregnant with my daughter, one of the names I really liked was Tess/Tessa but I nixed it really early on cause for the life of me I couldn't find a name that was able to give me the shortened name Tess that I liked... Is there one? I can't even think of many T names off hand really except for Teresa WDYT?

Tessa use to be one of my favorite names because my mom's name is Theresa and I thought it would honor her well. I like it as a stand alone name. I can't really think of any other names that could be shortened to Tess/a so I guess I'm no help, sorry!

Well, Tess/Tessa are actually nicknames for Teresa. I think Tessa can stand alone, but I prefer it as a nickname, mostly because I love Teresa.

Here are some other names I think Tess could be short for, though for some of them, it would be a bit of a stretch. Personally, I don't think nicknames have to be that close to the full name, though.

Estelle
Teresa/Theresa

My 4 year old is just Tessa

we call her Tessa, Tess, Tessie and occasionally Tee-sa (dubbed this by my other daughter who could not say Tessa at first)

Contessa is the only other Tessa that we have met

I love Tessa! It's adorable. I definitely think it could stand alone. If not, Theresa/Teresa is really pretty, too, if you want a more formal name.

Tessa/Tess can stand alone. My SIL had this picked out for a girl, but they had a boy, I like Tess but dare not steal it!

Is there a reason Tess or Tessa can't be the whole name?

No reason actually, I'm just used to hearing Tessa as more of a nickname, I've never met someone who's name was JUST Tessa and I was always wondering if it can stand alone as just that name
