What do you think of the girl name Brooklyn? How do you prefer it spelled?

I like the Brooklyn spelling. I think it's a pretty name, nothing I would use myself, but I have a cousin who named her daughter this so I'm really used to hearing it. I like that you can call her Brook for short.

Too popular for me. I don't really like place names anyway, so I prefer just Brooke.

I prefer Brooke over Brooklyn. I don't have an aversion to the name, but I just think there are so many great girls names out there that this wouldn't be a name I would use. Also because I lived in NJ I was close enough to NY that I think of it as a city not as a name. So anyway, I don't really like it, but I don't hate it.

I'm originally from NJ too and that's always the first thing that comes to mind

I lived in Brooklyn for about a year, and I really don't think its any place I would want to name my daughter after. But if you live far enough away that the city is not the first thing that comes to mind, it is nice. I dont think it should be spelled any way but the traditional Brooklyn though.

Dh and I considered the name Brooklyn. But DH was born there and lived there for a long time, so we thought it was kinda weird.

I'd spell it Brooklyn

I'm a New Yorker so to me Brooklyn is a place. I'm not a huge fan of place names.

I think it's too hard sounding for a girl.

But I prefer it spelled Brooklyn.

I think it's too rough as a girls name, and since it is such a major well known city, sooooo many people her whole life will think of it that way.

I much prefer Brooke.

I actually LOVE this name. DF doesn't like it that much, but I would def. consider it for a girl. I like it spelled Brooklynn. I know someone who named their daughter Brooklynn Elizabeth. I thought it was pretty ....

I like Brooke better than Brooklynne, but I think it's still a nice name.

Personally, I think it would be nice to use if say, you grew up in Brooklynn or your DH did or something.

I'd never use it though, just b/c I have an ex who named his daughter that!

ditto this. The location is just TOO well known for this name not to automatically be assocated with it. I like Brooke. I think its a "complete" name and doesnt need the "lynn". I think Brooke by itself is beautiful

I like the name and I think it's very cute with your daughter's name. I like it with one n though.
