NMS. I know it's a surname, but I think of the word for a person who hunts before that. It seems like it's trying too hard to me- like the parents are trying to make a point of using tough or very masculine sounding name. And the kid might not even like hunting when he's older.

Somethimes I wonder if someone will ever name their son Hunter and then name his sister Gatherer.

I knew a really cute little boy with this name, but I still don't like it. I agree it sounds like it's trying too hard to be "tough."

It's ok. My DH mentions it every once in awhile, but I don't think I'd go for it.

Agreed. It's just a really unpleasant name and association to me.

I agree. Hunter reminds me of Gunnar/Gunner, which drives me crazy. I don't want to associate my child with violence.
