I am pretty torn about what "style" I should go with for naming this baby. I feel like once I go with a name that I should continue the style. I like a combination of trendy and classic names right now but I'm afraid that if I go with one of the trendy names that I will regret it once I'm older. But I feel like I might regret going with a classic name because it's not as new and unique as some as the trendy ones.

Examples: Gabrielle and Colin (classic names)
Aubrielle and Ryder (trendy names)

So I'm just wondering if you mom's out there are happy with what kind-of style you went with in naming your kid(s). Whether you went trendy or classic. Tell me how you feel about your choice now.

I am happy with my choices....my boys names are what i consider All-American (and they are family names) and Phoebe is unique, uncommon, but also classic.

When i was pg with my second i almost named him Rylan...now i'm so glad i didnt since its gone unisex and is very trendy. i don't have a problem with trendy names for someone else, i like quite a few, just not for my kids!

I'm extremely happy with the style I chose. I classify my style as "Traditional/Classic Celtic". I don't regret giving my son a classic Celtic name and I'm looking forward to doing the same with future kids.

Yes, there are a lot of names out there that I love that don't fit my style... for example I *LOVE* a lot of Greek names... but I don't feel sad at all that I won't be using them on my children. I love Greek names, but I like Celtic names more. I satisfy my Greek-name-desire by using them on my pets, lol. (Phaedra, Apollo, and Artemis)

I also plan to satisfy my guilty pleasure of hippy names by using Rain as a nickname for Rhiannon (which is my choice for girl #1). That way she can be called by the fun hippy name, but still has a nice traditional name that will probably be taken more seriously in her professional life, know what I mean?

So no, I don't regret going the route I did.

This is something I'm thinking about too.... I like a lot of boarderline popular names, and I'm afraid I'll name my baby one of them, then everyone will be called that too.

I think that I prefer classic names paired with trendy names or having a trendy nick name available. I don't have any kids though, so I don't know about regret??

I don't have one particular style, I like a wide variety of names. I don't regret giving Brinlee the name she has, I love her name and I always will. I also don't think that you have to stick to one naming style when naming your kids. With one child you might like Aubrielle, with your next you might like Christina, and the next you might like Moon-beam. (all examples of course). I say go with what you love at that time, for each specific child. I don't think there is a rule that states you have to stick to one naming style once you use it on a child

I don't regret my kids names at all... The only thing that kind of bothers me is that my daughter's middle name is actually a boys name but with the now popular feminine spelling (I didn't know that at the time though)

im not sure what my "style" is really, I like old-fashioned names but don't really care for the ones that are popular right now. I guess my style is "fitting in while standing out"... also once i saw on one of the name sites the name Alaina described in this way "Though this name has fluctuated in use, it has been quietly present throughout the last century." I like that.. names that are quietly present.

But anyway... no I don't regret the style I went with but I also dont feel like you have to STICK to a certain style, if your naming style changes just go with it. like I don't see anything wrong with sibs named Gabrielle and Ryder so I would say just go with the name you really love and worry about naming a second child when that time comes.
