Girl. I see it as a spunky little girls name. I think it's too "soft" for a boy.

Ive never understood why people would use this personally. Scout makes me think of Sprouts, i dont think its a very attractive name personally. If i had to choose though id say Boy.

If it must be used on a human, though, I prefer it on a girl. That's what most people will assume, thanks to To kill a mockingbird.

The girl in that book was named Jean Louise. Scout was just a nickname.

I say girl, because of To Kill A Mockingbird. Granted her nickname was Scout, but I think it fits a girl better. Like Breanna said, it's cute and spunky for a girl and I agree that it's too soft for a boy. I personally like it.
