What associations , if any, do you have with the name Angus? Do you think it would be the target of a lot of teasing? Can you picture a little boy with this name?

Angus is scottish and it means exceptional or outstanding

I love love LOVE ****LOVE**** Angus (I prefer the Aengus spelling though).

Aengus is very high on my list and I adore it. Unfortunately my husband vetoed it. He said it makes him think of beef (I mentioned the name to him shortly after Jack In the Box did those commercials about Angus Beef). Ugh.

Anyways, I love the name a lot.

nms - the first things i think of is angus steak, and anus - which totally opens up a world of teasing. and you know how kids are, they'd probably switch the letters around and call him agnes.

not trying to be disrespectful, just wanted to point out some of the ways the name could be picked on.

Steak and burgers came to mind immediately when I saw this. Sorry. I love the meaning, but I wouldn't use it because of these associations.

While I much prefer Fergus ( ) there's something handsome and pleasantly quirky about Angus. Like others have said, though, rather beefy.

First instinct was to think of beef, and then that MTV movie Angus. Here's the link to the summary link

I like this name (I too prefer the spelling "Aengus"), but I can't get past the whole beef thing either. I also agree that "Gus" is a cute nn, if you did decide to use the name.
