So I know we are not all from the States, so keep that in mind in regards to how popular a name is. Sometimes I find that a name is "popular" on this board (see it alot) but not IRL, kwim? Or in your certain area that you live, etc. So I personally don't know anyone (friends/family) with this name or possible nickname. I would love to use Isabella and Ella for a nn. WDYT?
It's very popular here. I know 4 little girls named Ella under 3. Isabella nn Ella is even more common. I know 6 under the age of 7. I ADORE the name Ella but it is too popular for me. Throw in all the Gabriella's and it's just too common. I would personally use Etta or Ellis before I'd use Ella but popularity is very important to me.
Where do you live?
Would you use Ellis for a girl? I think of it more as a boys name. It is cute though![/b]
I live in the Great Lakes area of the US. I would use Ellis for a girl but I like 'soft' boys names on girls. It definitely isn't going to be every person's cup of tea. Isabella, Sophie and Ella are just really 'hot' here right now.
I'm in Canada and Eliana with the nn Ella is one of the top names on my list but I doubt I will use it because it is ridiculously popular here,, she would be at least 3rd in her class with that name
If its not that popular where you live I would definately use it though
I've only met one Isabella, but I'm not around too many little kids. I wouldn't care about the popularity, though. I love the name Isabella because I love that you can call her Ella and/or Bella. It's gorgeous!!
