I read somewhere that there is a trend in generation for people to think their parents names are old-fashioned, not really like their grandparents name, but like more names from the next generation up. I thought that was interesting and somewhat true!! (at least for me) Here are their names:

Reid (taken by my cousin)
Grace (again, Reid's sister)
Emma (yep, cousin named her baby this)
Nora Mae (love this!)

...can't think of the others..

what about yours?

Interesting bit of info. My Great Grandparents were:

Clara and Otto
Dora and Walter
Mary and Irving
Velma and Fay (yes, a man named Fay)

The only one I would consider using is Clara. I understand the theory around this with old-fashioned names being so trendy right now. I guess *my* great-grandparents just weren't named all that well. Ha Ha. My grandparents' names are Edith/Walter and Joanne/Leonard. I would possibly use Leonard and Jo as middle names but definitely not Edith or Walter.

My grandparent's names aren't great:

Dallas and Nadine
John and Margaret (went by Margie)

However, DH's grandmother was Ruth Vivian. She has been the most important woman in his life (died about 15 years ago). In fact, he proposed with her ring. I'm not a fan of Ruth, but we have decided to use Vivian as a middle name for our first daughter. I like it because it's classic but still very feminine and somewhat modern too.

Nora is beautiful.

Theda was my mom's maternal grandmother.
(I don't remember her first husband's name as she was married like 5 times, lol. But her husband when she died, whom was not my great grandfather, was Harold... but everyone called him Jay. He was a weird guy.)

LaVerne was my mom's paternal grandfather, as well as my mom's dad (they had the same name). His wife was named Birdie. Both of them were very very VERY bad people.

Chloe was my dad's maternal grandmother.

(not great grandparents, but close):
Arthur was my dad's great uncle (his grandfather or mother's brother)
Helen was my great great grandmother on my father's side... she gave her son (my great grandfather) up for adoption.

Names I like from that list are:
Theda
Chloe
Arthur (I'd consider using this one... but it's also the name of my husband's step-mother's dad, and he doesn't like his step-mother)

Someone mentioned Velma... my grandfather's sister is named that.
