I posted here before, since my mom had a hysterectomy due to fibroids. But, I've been having issues with my cycles since having DD who will be 3 in June (ok I didn't start my period again until DD was 9 months old....so I can't count those months).
I went to my OBGYN in Feb 2008 with labor like pains in my back, bleeding through a pad an hour, and feeling light headed and a few other random things. Doc said it was a hormone inbalance and put me on Levlite (Generic brand is what I took) BCP. It worked great for the first 3 months, then all the symptoms reappeared plus more. Mainly weight gain and increase in appietite. Which I think was related to the pill.
In August 2008 I switched to a new OBGYN (who I love!). he said it certainly sounded like a hormone inbalance. And said that the Nuva Ring should help since the hormones are lower and it seems like the hormone in the pill was too much. So, I tried it. It worked great for the first 3 months (again!) Then all went to hell. No sex drive, can't loss weight despite increase in exercise and <good> diet changes, mood changes, mild depression symptoms, pain during and after sex. Plus all the above symptoms I began with.
So, I went back a few weeks ago because I am sick of all this junk and bleeding through so many pads (and having large sized clots - litterally feel like a m/c every single month and umm right now we haven't had sex for a month so I knew that couldn't be a reason for all the clots this time around! Anyways, the doc did a full panal of blood work everything is perfectly "normal" whatever that is supposed to be. We thought it could be thyroid related, but nope! Not even boarderline levels for thyroid issues. So he has no idea, only suggestion is to come off the birth control and see what happens. He also did an ultrasound and everything is perfect. He said, since my mom had a hyst and I'm already having issues at such a young age (22, 23 in September) that I might just end up needing a hyst when we are done having kids (they wont consider one until I am at least 25 years old anyways). Which needless to say, I'm just at a loss. I don't know what to do right now. I am going to go off the birth control and see what happens. But I feel like there has to be another answer, this can't just be the only solution to avoid feeling crap (understatement) every single month.
I should add, I've always had really LONG cycles. So the 28 day thing I don't think works well for me. Prior to Hailey, my cycles were apx 40 days (or a period every 5th week). But no pain. Also, I'm curious b/c the Nuva Ring I would take it out on Tuesday and my period would start on Friday then I would bleed very heavy until Tuesday and abruptly stop. So I wonder if I just didn't totally "finish" my period which complicated things. My normal period prior to H is 8-10 days, not 4-5 days.
I'm not very hopeful right now, and its really bothering me that the only thing my OBGYN can think of is a hyst when we're done having kids. I'm scared to death to have my wisdom teeth taken out let alone major abdominal surgery (thank god I didn't need a c-section).

wow. i would (i hate to say this) a second opinion on the thyroid stuff, go see a endocrinologist. My thyroid issues were not handeld well until i saw her!
Hi there -
I am new to this board, I was advised on Friday to give serious consideration to a hysterectomy due to recurring cervical problems.
I am awaiting some test results to determine what the next step is, I am only 27.
I would do some research on your own, and maybe even get a third opinion. If things are going on with your body that are NOT normal for you, then something is definatley going on.
Good luck to you
I haven't been diagnosed as having anything. My OBGYN is stumped. We discussed PCOS and Endometrosis *sp*.
I guess I'll be hunting out an endocrinologist. I'll have to wait until summer though.
I'm really kind of wondering, does this even sound logical? BC makes your periods shorter. My periods without BC are typically 8 to 10 days at a minimum. On BC my periods are still 4-5 days. So I'm wondering if maybe b/c of the BC I'm not having a full period the way I should and getting issues. Somebody also mention that disposable pad use can mimic symptoms of endometrosis *Sp* So I'm going to try the Diva cup again and see if I notice a change in symptoms. The main difference is I used to use tampons pre-Hailey, but after having her they hurt too much, so I've been using pads. So IDK.

Even in BCP, mine were 5-ish days and heavy. Mine always came early though. The pill pack was 28 days. On BCP, mine would come every 26-ish days, and w/o BCP, it was as short as 21 days.
