A couple months ago my Mom started getting blood clots in her legs. About a month ago, she had a clot travel up to her lungs. She was kept in the hospital for almost a week and they did a few tests and procedures. During this time, they put a butterfly thing in her upper leg to catch any clots that wanted to move from her legs to another organ. Then, they also did a bone marrow test. They discovered Hairy Cell Leukemia.
She is now going to Rochester, MN to the Mayo Clinic where she is receiving good care. She left Monday night for her 2nd Mayo appointment and yesterday she was given the news that it was time to start Chemo.
I have 3 siblings but I live the closest to my parents. My Dad is a very capable man who can do house work and cook, and things like that but I know that it will be different and hard on both of them while she does her 7 day treatment plan at home.
My question is...What can I do as their daughter? What should I do?
I thought I'd ask those that have been through the treatment and the situations of cancer since you've been there and know what it's like and things.
I'd love your thoughts.thanks!
