I am home! I had my hysterectomy last wed. and got home on Friday. I felt GREAT Sat. and Sunday and today I HURT!!! I really over did it I think. I felt so good I just kept doing things . My hysterectomy went well. It was a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy and I had my left ovary removed also. They only side affect are from the pain pills I think. I have had dry mouth and blurry vision and I sweat like crazy!! And as of today I am in ALOT of PAIN! I have had no bleeding or problems with my incisions though. I go on Thursday for my post op appointment.

Are you still on Rx pain meds? Can you ask for a different type? I'm glad the recovery is going well. Try not to over-do it. (Easier said than done!)

yes, I am on Demerol. I go back to the doctor on Thursday and will see what he says about the medication. We are currently living with my family so, it is making it really easy for me to be able to do nothing! I am on day 6 and yesterday and today are far worse then all the rest. I think it may be because the anethisia is finally wearing all the way off??? I can feel ever bruise and stich and inside my vagina hurts today

Yeah, I remember that ... sort of. My pain got really bad on day 2, a little better on day 3, worse on day 4, and then the night of day 4, my bladder burst. I can't even describe how painful that was. They gave me 3 shots of morphine in the ER and one more in the ambulance when I was transferred for surgery, but it didn't even take the edge off. After that, recovery was a little better because I was on percocet, advil and torodol at the same time.

I still have a little pain now and then, but I'm almost certain it's because of my bladder, not the hyst. The hyst itself should've been easy.

How long did that last??
I had my first post op appointment today and he said I am healing well but, I need to rest rest rest! and stay home because apparently Oklahoma is being hit hard right now with the H1N1 flu and he had one patient die from it and does not want any more patients getting sick. (which I totally understand!).

In other news I have had a HARD time emotionally. I keep thinking man, I will never EVER be able to have another baby... EVER... and it kills me! I know I needed to have the surgery so I would not get cancer but man, I am so sad. I do have one ovary left so maybe later on I can get a surrogate to carry a baby for me. I do have 5 sisters

mine lasted about a month on and off. My hyst was total vaginal. (still have ovaries) just certain things i did it would hurt in strange places, like something was ripping out or something. a warm heating pad always helped me. take it easy!! KUP

I am on day 16 and I found out on day 13 that I had a kidney infection and a UTI. I went to the ER thinking I had a kidney stone (I have a history of them!) and was in SO much pain! they gave me antibiotics and pain meds and I am on the mend but I still HURT and get tired easy. I feel like this will never end? So, I guess I had a rough patch in my healing process but I am getting there.... Hopefully!

At least you know! Did they give you anything for the UTI pain specifically, or is it just for pain in general? You can get Azo Standard (over the counter) at the drug store, and it's great. The only problem is that it'll turn your urine a very dark reddish-orange, so you'll have to wear a liner to keep it from seeping into clothing. I was on it for quite a while after my bladder surgery. Check around... walmart has it pretty cheap ($5?). I looked at Walgreens & CVS one time, and it was like $15 or something?! Yikes!
