Sorry, But this is a pretty graphic post:

DH and I have dramatically increased our intake of fruits and veggies in the last week. We bought a "Bullet Express" at Costco and absolutely LOVE IT!!! So DH has been "juicing" and I've been making super green smoothies. Lots of smoothies. Like 32 ounces-a-day smoothies. I've never had so many fruits and veggies in my life and I really like them! Its a combination of a few fruits (oranges, bananas, pears, apples, stawberries) and mainly veggies (cabbage, spinach, bok choy, parsley, mustard greens, celery, carrots, cucumber, brocolli, lettuce). Mix and match something different everyday. Add 100% cranberry juice instead of water and a few teaspoons of flax seeds for Omega-3s. Take my regular calcium, vit D and E supplements with it. It's been great and I'm glad I'm doing something healthier in my regular routine.

Now I feel like crap. I haven't changed my dinner eating habits much- still normal dinner foods or fast food if I'm at work. A full glass of milk and another calcium supplement before bed. I've noticed that my mood is betterand I have more energy, but my stomach has been hurting pretty bad for the last two days. Bloating and some gas, but mostly just painful bloating. I'm on my period and I thought it was just regular bloating from that, but this is MUCH WORSE. I feel like I have to roll myself off my couch and I'm holding my stomach when I stand for extra support. My BMs have been more regular over the week, but now its just green loose stools. I've taken a Gas-X an hour ago, but no change so far. Every once in a while (including waking me up while I'm sleeping), I'll have horrendous sharp, shooting, stabbing pains throughout my gut.

I can only attribute this change to the increase in fruits and veggies as that's the only thing that's changed, but I don't want to stop with all the good stuff completely and go back to daily fast food and chronic constipation. What's going on, how can I lessen the side effects, and should I "power through" the pain the best I can, or should I just give up? Thanks and HELP!!!

Have you considered that one of the particular fruits or veggies you've added might be something you're slightly allergic to?

That was my thought, maybe an allergy or an intolerance to some of the foods. And yes eating healthy is good but too much high fiber will cause cramps, gas, and loose stools.

Cabbage is probably what's causiung the gas pains, especially since you are having it raw.

I hope you're feeling better!
