I had my annual yesterday and talked with my doctor about my options to fix my erratic and painful cycle. She brought up possibly putting me on Mirena but in my case not for birth control seeing as my tubes are tied but rather to help out with things. I'm going to think about that. I brought up a partial hysterectomy and she said she would 125% recommend me for one and would also remove my cervix seeing as my mother had cervical cancer. The only issue appears to possibly be the insurance company. I haven't spoken to them yet but typically this is looked at as an elective surgery and so I'd have to pay out of pocket.

Anyone have this done? Paid for it? Insurance covered? I'm all ears for any info/advice.

I would do the hysterectomy. I had the uterine ablation and it looks like it failed for me. If things aren't better by August then my doctor is doing a hysterectomy.

it should be covered by your insurance though. All your doc has to do is use the ICD codes for heavy periods and family history of cervical cancer.
