Hi I'm new to this board but not JM, anyway, I was just diagnosed with PCOS (which was just diagnosed a week ago) and then today found out I'm also diabetic *sigh*. As of right now I am not on meds but my doctor's appointment is Friday with the GP so will start on something I'm sure for the diabetes and then will be back to my OB on what to do with the PCOS. Will also be having a Nova Sure uterine ablation (hopefully) next Friday (2-18) as part of the PCOS as well.

Long road ahead of me. Need to lose 55-60 pounds to get to my healthy BMI, start eating better, and exercising daily. I'm a transcriptionist, work from home, so I pretty much sit on my butt all day .

Anyone have any experience with either condition? Kind of at a loss right now.

Sorry for your diagnosis

I had pcos, but I lost some weight and all was good. Your doc may put you on glucophage (metformin) for insulin resistance. It can be a brutal med (digestive wise - you can be in the bathroom all the time), so you will have to find what works for you.

Good luck!

Thanks. No she's actually not going to. Neither of my docs are. They're giving me some time to start exercising and to lose weight (63 pounds to be exact) and both my family practice doc and OB/GYN think that the diabetes and PCOS will not be an issue if I get back down to a healthy BMI, start exercising, and start eating better. So I'm on a low glycemic diet, lots of fruits, veggies, and protein, low sugar, exercing my butt off 3-5 days a week and lowering my stress level. So far I've lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks so my doc is happy with my progress. So just pushing ahead with diet and exercise and hoping to lose the 63 pounds by the middle of September to first of October.

Thanks! Yep, it already has. Just by losing 7 pounds, it's dropped my blood sugar by around 20 "points" or so. So once I lose the rest of the 55 or so pounds the diabetes should be gone yippee!.

Buried under a mountain of work right now but will definitely check you guys out when I get a spare moment thanks!
