I found a lump it is round, and feels like it is on the bony part of my boob... like not in the middle but actually on my chest cavity... if you know what I mean.

I am soooo scared, but I have to wait another 10 days before i have the ultrasound and then another 7 days after that before I get to see my doctor...

I cannot sleep because of the worry... does anyone know anything about this? the doctor at the outpatience the one that set up the ultrasound for me told me she thought it could be a dried up milk duct since i stopped breastfeeding just 6 weeks ago. Or she thought it could be a cyst...

Thanks for any help.

It's normal to have lumps within weeks of breastfeeding. Try not to worry too much. Even if it's cancer, there are so many options out there today that didn't used to exist. My SIL actually had a mastectomy while she was 24 wks pg last year. She's had breast cancer off and on for a few years. The hormones of pregnancy triggered a relapse, and since it's not the first time she's had it, they wanted to do surgery asap to keep it from spreading to her lymph nodes. A year later, she's fine once again. Ok... so I probably did more to scare you than reassure you. Please just don't worry about it right now. I also had lumps when weaning. It's normal.

Lumps can be fairly normal if you are breastfeeding or have recently breastfed, so try not to worry.

If you are taking any hormonal contraceptives though, you may want to reconsider. They increase a woman's risk of breast cancer, and accelerates the growth of cancer cells when they actually are present.
