My threatened to come at 11 wks early, but the docs told my mom to be on bedrest for 6 wks. Then my mom had me by c-section 5 wks till her due date. The doctors check checking on me and my head meausurements went of the chart... so they sent me to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL because they diagnosised me with Hydrocephalus/Dandy Walker Syndrome at 4 months old. They shunted me on my right side first with a VP shunt from the 3 ventrical, but 3 months later I got a staph infection and they replaced it with one on my left side.
About 11 years later during Spring Break in 5th grade, I woke up to a really bad headache and was crying. We went to Shands to have surgery to place another VP shunt in the syst directly. Ever since then I have graduated on time, got married and had a baby. Also, I got tested for any learning disabilities too. First I got tested twice in 2002 and I have Nonverbal Learning Disability (NLD).
