Did you smoke when you where pregnant?

How many do you smoke a day at the moment?

I think there are two ways to quite.

1. Cold turkey, give it up one morning and dont look back.

2. Plan it out. Cut down and replace cigarettes with some thing else.

Every person is differnet and so is their addiction to cigarettes so I wouldn't know which one would be best for you. What do you think?

Also dont stop for anyone but YOU! Do it for you!

You can do it, hey if you go through pregnancy and childbirth you can do this. Dont doubt yourself.

well if you're having a really hard time and you really want to quit talk to your doctor about chantix, its fairly new drug on the market and theres no nicotine in it but what it does is block the nicotine receptors so when you do smoke you get no satisfaction out of it, and essentially now youre really wasting money on something that does nothing for you.

I talked to my dr. about Chantix, it causes insomnia, so that wouldn't be good with m e having a newborn...2 1/2 months really. I think I am going to try cold turkey. Thanks for the info.

I myself dont see the point in using other drugs to quit one drug.. but thats me lol.

If your going to go cold turkey make sure you have something to keep your hands busy when ever you want one. With a new born I am sure it not hard lol. Everytime you want one change her nappy even if it doesnt need doing lol.!

Im sure you can do it! Pregancy - labour - quiting smoking

I'm in the same boat as you girlie. I have quit so many times in the last couple years only to start up again later. People who are not addicted will never understand how hard it is to quit. I am taking Wellbutrin which is supposed to curb cravings(also an antidepressent). It seems to be helping. I'm on like day 4 now since I quit!! I'm having a rough time, but hanging in there.

I read somewhere that your odds of quiting are much higher if you use a stop smoking aid. Cold turkey quitters have a low success rate. Also, try going somewhere(vacation, all day type attraction) the day you quit so you will be busy and away from your normal location). That seems to help me.

Good luck!!

I agree with the vacation idea!

When DP quit smoking he did it when we were on holiday, he had no stresses of work or anything. Just the stress of what to do that day to enjoy himself
