Hi all.. For any smoker out there who wants to quit, I wanted to post what worked for me. I have smoked on and off for 14 plus years (I've quit for years at a time before, and then mistakenly picked one up thinking I "wasn't addicted anymore so it's ok" out drinking or something..)

I set a date. It gave me a few weeks to get ready... to set my mind to it. No patch, no gum. I just made a mental list of WHY I wanted to quit.

FIRST and FOREMOST.. you cannot quit for anyone else. This has to be your very own desire. It can be for any reason, but it has to be YOUR reason.....

I smoked through my son's entire pregnancy. I didn't get it really. I am pregnant again now and believe it or not, it's not the main reason I quit 3 weeks ago. The main reason I quit is my son. I do NOT want to die on him from a relatively "preventable" disease. I don't want him to smoke either.

So ladies (and gentlemen) please let me know if I can be of assistance to you. If you genuinely don't want to be a smoker anymore, set a date, talk to your doctor..... and think of those reasons.... make a list and put it in your car, at your desk, on your refridgerator.... wherever...

Think to yourself: (I listed most of these in a reply to a post, so please forgive if you've already read them!)

MY KIDS NEED ME
I WONT WRINKLE AS QUICKLY
MY HAIR WILL BE HEALTHIER
MY NAILS WILL BE HEALTHIER
MY TEETH WILL GET WHITER AND WHITER
I WON'T BE THE "UNCOOL" GIRL WHO IS THE SMOKER
IF I CONTINUE TO SMOKE MY KIDS ARE MORE LIKELY TO SMOKE
I CAN BREATHE AGAIN!
I WILL FEEL SO MUCH CLEARER IN THE MORNING!
IN 2 MONTHS I WILL HAVE SAVED ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY A BRAND NEW COACH HANDBAG!
_____________ fill in your own!

Best of luck,
Sarah
