I had a doctor's appointment for myself and Alexis to get flu shots on Friday (done 3 months ago). When I called then on Thursday because I heard through a grapevine there was a shortage in the vaccine and they may not have it, I was right to call because they did not have it. The nurse recommemnded me to go that Saturday at a gerocery store that was having the flu shots up the street from me, I said ok. Well, Friday night on the news I found out that this was the last time to get flu shots in Erie because of the stortage AND when they had the shots at another local store that Friday people came eariler than the time scheduled to pick numbers so by the time the shots started they ran ran out of vaccine! Plus, the News stressed if you are not 65+ or under 6+ months old you might be denied. Not to mention that the dose is adult in form so is not recommended for infants to take. (Now is that confusing or what!) So, I knew Alexis and I would be denied because we are "healthy" and not of age. I did not want to wake up early to pick a number just to find out they ran out of vaccine and/or we are "too healthy" so now I got to worry about getting the flu this winter and being a single Mom that is not cool! I know Alexis will be okay because I can nurse her if neccesary (won't be fun-but she has been a toughie so far).
