We had our scan yesterday and it isn't good news. Baby is showing signs of a Chromosomal Abnormality and we have to have further tests to find out what is going on. I kind of just went into shock when I was told that so didn't ask to many questions, so am not even sure what that means. I'm trying to not think about it too much til we get more texts done. We have an appointment at the hospital next Thursday (we have to wait until we are a little further on, so I'll be a day off 13 weeks by then).
The person who took the scan rang my midwife straight away and she called me when I got home. We have a meeting with her tonight.
I really need your positive thoughts ladies. I haven't stopped crying since I heard this and am terrified.

Tasha sending you lots of love right now hun!
My sisters last 2 pregnancies showed signs of Down's Syndrome and neither one of the kids have it. Those ultrasounds can be wrong! Sometimes very wrong. One of the ladies who delivered this year was supposed to be having a boy but it was a girl with a severe cleft pallet. They didn't see any of that on the u/s.
Have you thought about an amniocentesis?

T&P's your way!!
Did they give you any idea of which chromosomal abnormality? There are alot of indicators of things on scans, but scans are not the best way to determine anything. An amnio would be the best test, but that comes with its own risks.

Thank you for your words of support ladies. I never thought something like this could happen to us, and am just hoping and praying that this turns out to be nothing. We met with our midwife last night who said exactly the same thing that a lot of you have - that these results can turn out to be nothing really often. She also said this is why she tried to talk us out of having a scan in the first place! Because it can cause so much stress, then turn out to be nothing at all.
I ended up ringing my Mum in tears and telling her I was pregnant. Not exactly how I planned on letting my parents know they are going to be grandparents, but I think I'm going to need my Mummy there next Thursday when I get the next round of tests.
At the moment we are just going to have another scan with more high-tech equipment, which should be able to tell us more. Then we'll be looking at getting an Amnio.
Thanks again ladies.
