I'm just waiting for that first call now! It's exciting, but sort of nerveracking. I really hope my first assignment is known "in advance" ie. I get to know the day before at least - that's somehow less scary!
I spent yesterday packing a bag with everything I needed, including ID, timesheets, handover sheets, pencilcase, and a file with resources such as standby English and Maths lessons should I ever be left with no planning - it took over half the day just to plan the lessons. So I am all ready to go if I do get that last-minute call one morning. Though there are still things I want to add to the bag, such as behaviour cards and good news cards and I need to cut some pictures out of magazines for the standby Art lesson I planned. And eventually I want to add more potential standby lessons so I can pick and choose depending on the class's topics etc.
So...I'll be trying to catch up with things this week after a busy few days IF I don't get called out. If I do, I may go MIA, as I will have to do the remaining jobs I have to do in the evenings, which include organising membership of a teaching union and wrapping up some prize readings on my other boards, as well as the above.
