So I'm driving myself pretty mad being at home all the time right now job hunting. I've decided to volunteer for a local charity and work in their charity shop on my local high street. They are a wonderful charity that work in my local area to run a hospice for cancer patients who have had the terrible news their cancer has become life-limiting.

I haven't done volunteering to that extent before, no, but I have thought about it before. I think it's great that you've taken the initiative to do something positive with your time.

Ive volunteered bits and pieces of time to things like the YMCA and food banks and special needs daycare, stuff like that but nothing for long periods of time.

I wanted to volunteer last year for some different local organizations, but with me working full time and the girls, I simply didn't have enough time

I volunteer at Phoenix's school all the time.

I help the teacher grade papers, parties, etc.

right now i only volunteer at school (usually in the library) and help my bff sarah in whatever she is needing (she is a casa worker and first steps therapist). although working with sarah is usually just me on my computer researching and networking for whatever she is involved in at the time and its not a whole lot.
