For the past 4 days I suspect my IBS has come back. I haven't had it for years
I'm trying to pinpoint what is flaring it up. It is the kind that is worst in the morning and I need to go toilet which makes it feel better for about a minute and then I need to go again and get more pain/hot sweats It is so painful.
The only thing I can think of diet wise that has changed is Easter chocolate. I was rarely eating chocolate anymore and when, literally just a row and the last few days I've had more, yesterday I had about half an egg and this morning I would say was the worst day so far. The other food is red grapes.
Other than that, it could be stress but stress from what? The only thing I can think of is there are lots of things going on with mum, frank and my nan and it might be subconscious.
Sorry to post this but I needed to get it out as I feel so misunderstood. Harro doesn't seem to understand how painful it is or believe that chocolate or other foods could trigger it

honey, I know how bad and painful it can be, I seem to be having a flare-up myself (weird huh!) which I believe started because of eating pizza on Saturday night - though since I've been pregnant I've been mostly ok with cheese, there have been times where I've eaten it and then had trouble.

But yes, Easter egg chocolate could be another cause because dairy is one of the "big" culprits as far as IBS is concerned - it's dairy that sets it off for me.

That sounds more likely than any indirect stress, but you never know. Are you on any medication for it? Before I was PG I was on amitriptyline and omeprazole and they kept IBS and acid reflux very much under control. I can't take the amitrip while PG so now I've just got to suffer. If you're not on anything and it continues, I would see your doc - in the meantime Buscopan can help which I believe you can buy from the chemist.

I think people who haven't had IBS just don't realise how bad it can be. It can be very debilitating, not just the cramps but the need to be near the bathroom, the diarrhoea, dehydration and in some cases (which is what I get) severe nausea where you feel like you might throw up for hours on end and nothing to ease it. Big xxx

AS another IBS sufferer....dairy, fatty foods and spicy (especially spicy!) food tends to be my triggers

gosh so many of us suffer with it. Thing is I have changed my eating to be more healthy since January and I wonder if not having things for so long and then having them ahs caused the flare up. I haven't been to the doctors yet as it only just clicked that this is what it is as I literally haven't had a flare up for years. Last time I had something for the doctors, IBS was not really talked about. I had these gross drinks that made me want to puke

Funnily enough, there were several coincidences at the MBS event I went to which provided some guidance on what to do about IBS - you ladies may want to read it:
