Shaun and I have been working on it a lot the last few days. I've been doing affirmations, perineal massage, and the 2 meditations on the free CD with the book, over and over. I've also been practising the opening rose visualisation and the rainbow visualisation in the bath (the two I find easiest to remember), and doing the breathing exercises. I also did a whole clearing negative energy exercise the other weekend, writing out all my fears and letting them go to the universe.
Shaun has now begun doing one of the meditations with me and he is very earnestly reading the book in detail and discussing it lots. We wrote out a whole birth plan and letter which he has mailed to our hospital. He knows exactly what to do to support me.
I feel really great about it because I feel so supported and even though we've done the stuff far less than you would if attending the class, I feel it working. The birth breathing (TMI alert) is practised on the toilet and is amazing - I have 100% confidence it will work for birthing put it that way! My perineum is definitely feeling softer and more pliable. Once it's been confirmed that I can finish work I will switch to using evening primrose oil for the massage. And during the meditation, the last time we did it last night, I totally zoned out to a place where I could hear the voice, but not perceive what it was saying.
We've also tested my TENS machine (well Shaun has, he shocked himself with it

and I plan to get hold of some raspberry leaf tea and start drinking that next to help strengthen my uterus and therefore my contractions. All feels positive and I am actually LOOKING FORWARD to birthing this baby. Yes, me, looking forward to a natural childbirth!
Thanks to all who gave me advice about hypnobirthing, I really do think it will work for me xxx
