So I don't know how many of you ladies are movie buffs... But I'm a huge one right here!

I especially love me a good horror film! Or action, sci/fi, car chasing (I lovvved Transformes )

Have you heard about the movie Sinister? It's a movie that says it's based around a Pagan God Bagul, who like... Eats children?!

I googled Bagul, because I was curious, and I don't see a single actual fact on him, and all I can find is people admitting he was made up... But why Pagan?

Does this sort of stuff make you worry about how people view Pagans? How much of a huge misconception there already is, this can't possibly help. I'd like to say that most people would realize it's a movie... But in today's society... I can't help but shake my head a little.

Anyways... Thoughts?

If I didn't know about pagan religion (which really isn't much) I would probably lean towards believing it.

That is a bit annoying really because of the connotations it's making with Paganism. But then there are also movies which make witchcraft out to be evil as well.

They're probably basing it off the God Baal, who was worshiped by Jezebel in the bible (The book of Kings, chapter 16 I think). He was renowned to require child sacrifices, at least according to Christians.

If I didn't know anything about Paganism, I don't know that I'd totally believe it since it is a movie but it would certainly make me not want to explore Paganism either.

You're right Sharron, there have been a ton of movies! I guess I'm only really noticing this since I'm much more involved in Paganism that I was before.

I just kind of shake my head and wonder what people are going to think. I'm already careful with who I tell my beliefs to (my Grandmother has already told me I worship Satan).

You're bound to feel cautious at first. I am careful when working who I tell, I think it's a bit too "out there" to put it on teaching job applications etc...most people are just not ready for it and I wouldn't want it to go against me, so I just tick "prefer not to answer" on the faith questionnaire. However I am open with family and friends now, not just about Paganism but even about being a witch. I think they have seen enough of what I do to know I'm not evil.

Good thing I like to research. Even the most random things, I research... it catches my attention, guess what? Yep, I research. lol

On the movie, no I haven't heard of it... that I recall, atm.

Most of my family knows about me. My Grandmother (maternal side) I try to keep it from her. I don't want to listen to the preaching. She probably knows, but hasn't confronted me about it as of yet. My parents and my dad's side all know, and they accept me, dreams (spidey sense) and all.

Hmm, although my sanity was called into question by one of my aunts, until I fully explained my beliefs to her. LOL Ah well, better that than the other.

I love horror films, suspense, thrillers, sci-fi's as well. Though movies like of those about pagans -- I think they're okay as long as I hold my faith to what I believe in.
