Thanks Hillarie! I'm surprised I haven't run into you more on jm, I used to frequent here for a long time, back when it was General Spirituality! I'm Nikki, I have a 3 year old little girl who is the light of my life. I will admit I have been lurking Pagan Living as well, I'm not 100% comfortable posting exactly where I want yet. I have trust issues with jm..lol

Braided bread sounds great for Imbolc!

I always re-do my altar at Imbolc. This year I even have a new spot for it actually not on a windowsill! lol. I usually treat myself to some new candles and may get some new incense as well this time. I was also looking at a set of crystal platonic solids to work with. I have a couple of books that contain prayers for each Sabbat and also this website so will probably light my candles and do some sort of devotion:

That's what I've been doing but not much has stuck out to me.

Imbolc is the start of the sun coming back and the world being less frozen. It is also Groundhogs Day. It depends on what path you follow and what deities you pay tribute to.

Don't make it hard. Think sun, starting fresh, breaking off the frigid coldness your body was hibernating in, and begin to cultivate your spirit.

I had to go look up what it was.. it falls on the same day as Groundhog day right?

I am unfamiliar with the traditions and rituals for this day. Wikipedia did say something about Pregnancy of Ewes... and since it falls just after when I would usually ovulate, maybe I will end up a pregnant sheep

Does anyone have a better link than Wikipedia so I can look into it more?
Shades of Grey likes this.

I have not tried a poppet... I had, in moments of anger and grief, considered making a stuffed version of my uterus and using it as a voodo object... so I was partly on the right path. I will have to look into them further.
