We had turtles and a lizard growing up. I also had a 7 legged huntsman as a teenager that I found who was looking pretty poorly, so I put him in a tank and fed him some bugs and bulked him back up again.
At the moment we are happy just having our cat.
I would love a lyrebird, they're so beautiful and make the most incredible sounds, but it would be nothing short of cruel to keep one, especially as I live in an area where they are part of the general wildlife.
Maybe some kind of exotic fish? I love birds but I'd rather see them at my bird feeder than in a cage. I think I'd rather have the opportunity to go into the wild to see exotic animals than to keep them as pets.
I had a snail, a turtle, and a hamster when I was young. My parents also had two birds for awhile. When I was a child(5 I think?) I nursed a sick bird back to health then released him once he was ready.
My husband had a pig, a goat, a duck, and a goose. Lol. And no he didn't live on a farm.
We might get some chickens...
As far as picking any kind of animal to keep, I'd rather just live out in the forest/mountains and let the animals come and go that live there naturally.
