Please post your recipe ideas for the week here ladies!

Present them however you like, pictures, recipes/instructions, commentaries, links. It would be good to have pictures of the finished products and for people to comment if they tried someone else's recipe!

All of these will be linked from the craft table thread.

Chicken and dumplings:

I use 2 legs and 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts to make the broth.. I boil them in a large pot of water with carrots, celery and onion.. all rough chopped (large pieces) and salt and pepper with a hint of sage.. boil until the chicken is thoroughly cooked. Remove veggies from stock. I discard the legs because we don't eat dark meat and then I shred the breasts back into the stock.

You can either buy frozen biscuit dough or make your own biscuit dough from scratch.. I do both depending on how much time I have. With frozen biscuit dough, cut it into quarters and add to the pot of boiling chicken stock. I pinch off decent sized balls of dough when I make it from scratch.
Season with salt, pepper and sage to taste. As it cooks, the broth thickens and it's creating a chicken and biscuit stew of sorts.. it's very yummy. One of my easy faves.

I made this Crockpot Bacon Cheeseburger Soup, with some changes...

1 pound ground turkey (can substitute ground beef), browned on the stove top and drained
3/4 pound thick bacon (about 9 slices), chopped and cooked (I used half a pound)
1 can (14 ounces) diced potatoes (I used a can of cream of potato soup)
2 garlic cloves, minced (I used 4)
4 cups chicken broth
1 cup milk
16 ounces Velveeta, cubed (I used half this)
*I also added 2 carrots, white beans, and a cup of squash puree.

Brown the ground turkey and bacon on the stove top and drain the fat.
Pour the chicken broth into a 5 or 6 quart crockpot. Then add the potatoes, garlic, ground turkey, and bacon. Stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for at least 5-6 hours. 20-30 minutes before serving add the soy milk and Velveeta and stir to combine. If desired, serve with bread.

I am sucking with these recipe threads, I haven't contributed a single darn thing. Hoping to do some baking in the half-term and contribute what I make then.
