So, the resource worker will be here at noon tomorrow to do our second homestudy. We fixed the few little things she saw on the first go round that had to be done. Now we get to talk about the kiddos we think we could take and how many and all that. Yay! I just have to get my physical and DH's physical done. DH's fingerprints STILL have not come back yet. I got mine back almost 3 weeks ago. So after this and the physicals it is all about waiting!

Well, our homestudy was canceled. Boo. The resource worker called about an hour before she was supposed to be here and said she had to do a pick up and find a foster home. She called back about 3 hours later and said she was sorry but she was having to cancel and she was having to pick up the child, take them to the foster home and get them settled in. Such is working with DHR! She'll call today to reschedule. I hope it'll be soon!

Well poo Sorry about that! I am just curious about what they said needed to be fixed? Was it like childproofing things?

It was simple stuff. The hot water was "too hot" so we turned it down a little. The fire extinguisher just needed to be moved so it was where it could be grabbed to go out the door. And we had to lock up all our medicines (we used a locking tool box). That's it. Otherwise this visit will just cover what kind of children we can foster and how many at a time.

Wow! They were a lot pickier than our home study - thank goodness! He did mention that we should check into some child proofing but he approved us anyway.
Well I'm so glad it worked out well! Let us know when you get that new appt!

Wow, we didn't have to do that stuff either. All good ideas though!

Yeah I thought so too. They have some serious requirements. Our house really is childproof because of Sarah Beth, so I don't know if they check on that. But like our whole property had to be clear of stuff. We live in the country, so piles of wood are common here. We had to clean that up. We also had to buy an emergency ladder in case of fire, so the kids can climb out of the window. Hmm, what else... I can't remember anything else we really had to change, but there were 3 pages of stuff that had to be checked in order to be an approved foster or adoptive home. All of it really was good stuff, like you guys said, but it was a lot!

We got rescheduled for Tuesday next week. Resource Worker said she told her supervisor that if something came up it was too bad, she had to come here. LOL. So that's good. She's a very sweet lady. I like chatting with her.
