So yesterday DH and I went over to current foster mom's house and met Lil Buddy. He is so cute! I just fell in love immediatly. He looks an awful like my daughter. And, he shares her birthday. He is exactly one year younger than Sarah Beth is. I think that means it is fate for him to be part of our family!
He is 15 months old and weighs only 16 lbs. He is so so skinny. He was diagnosised failure to thrive after he came into care. Current foster mom said he has been to at least 5 different doctors and stayed in the hospital for a number of days to try to figure out why he isn't gaining weight, but they haven't figured it out yet. He doesn't crawl yet, but he is sitting up. As we were playing he pushed with his legs into a standing position while I held him under his arms. I know his legs are strong, he just has to figure out how to use them. He'll get there. He is in occupational therapy and speech therapy (Sarah Beth is in speech therapy too).
Current foster mom has had him since he was 5 months old. Birth mom has not been in the picture for almost as long as he's been in the system. In fact, they aren't really even sure where she is anymore. They have already ruled out the maternal grandmother as a possible home as well as the supposed father (he wouldn't even come in for a DNA test).
He's coming here tomorrow (Thursday) in the evening and staying until Friday. Then he'll go back home for the weekend. Then he'll be back on Monday evening for next week. Then he'll go back for a week on Saturday night. I'm going to let current foster mom decide when she's ready to say goodbye and I'll get him sometime around July 19 or so.
