For those who did interstate adoption, how quickly were you able to get custody of the child?
I'm asking because Joshua will need a place to go LONG before everything is said and done. But I know that certain paperwork is supposed to be filed with both states for this to happen. But once my step-brother makes up his mind, then Josh will need a home pretty much right away. What snags may we hit?
Thanks to Jaidynsmum for my siggy!

I don't know about the interstate adoption part, but we were granted immediate "temporary" custody of Kirsten - we had both birth parent's blessings so that probably helped a lot. It took about 6 months after that when it was completely legal but we had custody of her the whole time
It depends on the state that the child is coming from. You should be able to get immediate temporary custody until all your paperwork and such is through, but I'd ask the department in the state that the child is coming from to be sure.
