I dont know if this goes here. I apologize if its in the wrong spot.
I'm new to this forum, and i'm not exactly a 'Mommy', nor am I married. I'm not even dating at this time. I'm what some people would refer to as Transgendered. I know alot of Mothers looking to adopt out their child, would overlook me for a cozy little couple with the perfect life. You see, I cant have children, but more then anything I want to raise one as my own. A boy or a girl. It doesnt matter to me. I just dont think that being what I am should have anything to do with being quailified to raise a child. I love kids, but its not the same as having your own. Holding them. Loving them. Their first word. First steps. I want to experience all that. Capture it on film. I cant do that unless I can get someone to overlook what I am, and allow me the chance to be a parent.
I'm so sorry you are experiencing discrimination like that. I wouldn't give up, I'm sure there are some states that will allow an adoption, you might try a support group for transgendered people, they might have an inside scoop on this. Of course we want you here as well, but between us both, you might find the answers your looking for
Welcome, Lem. I'm sorry you are having these issues with discrimination. Have you already spoken to agencies and such? I know many agencies work with all kinds of parents: gay, straight, transgendered, single, married, whatever. I hope you find a place that will help you find the perfect little child to be your own!
No. I havent tried. I was told by people living here in Arizona who have adopted or going to adopt. That they wouldnt even let me because i'm TG. That I dont think is fair. I was thinking about trying other states or international. Thing is, I dont have tons of money for traveling. Especially overseas.
