I've been flirting with the idea of adoption because of my situation but I know the dad will not go for it. As of today do to him continuing to beg me to come back to him daily I told him not to talk to me anymore and I'll let him know when the baby is born. I've been reading a little on adoption and it sounds like without dad's approval the adoption would be a no go? Any way around that?

I guess it depends on your state. In mine (Alabama), if mom does not declare a father and he isn't there to sign the birth certificate, she can put the child up for adoption without his approval. However, I think if he really fought it in court, he might be able to get that child back. Perhaps you could just call a lawyer and ask if they can give you that information?

I wish you the best in your decision!

It depends on the state, for our adoption of newborn twin boys, and since the mother was married in her state the husband was put on the birth cert, and we had to get him to sign away parental rights (easy to do from jail). Check with a lawyer.

Thanks ladies. Unfortunatly I can't do the adoption without dads consent.... he won't agree so its a done deal. Although I feel its incredibly unfair.
