Hi ladies. About a week about Stephanie posted a thread on the AIP board about adoption. I had mentioned that adoption was something that DH and I had talked about in the past, but that since we'd had our own children it hasn't been something we've talked about. On Sunday, Mother's Day, I went to church and we continued our series in James and focused on the verses 1:22-27. V. 27 says "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." The message that day was more about being DOERS instead of just HEARERS. We heard a couple share their story about adopting a little girl from China recently and feel that we have a shared conviction to adopt. I don't know when the "right" time to adopt will be, but I trust that Jesus will guide us when the time comes. In the mean time, I hope to learn and share in your experiences here.

"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude..... These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are percisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character and increase our compassion for others."

Thanks I went to the library today and checked out some books on adoption just to get us started. I've heard that it's more difficult for couples with children to adopt because agencies tend to want to help couples who have infertility problems. Anybody else hear that?

I don't think it is more difficult for any one specific type of person to adopt than another. It might be more difficult with particular agencies, but that's where interviews come into play!

Welcome to our board! I'm excited that you are thinking about adoption!!
