Hi everyone! I found JM through google. We have been lucky to adopt twice. We have an adopted 3yr old daughter, Matilda, and an adopted son who we've had for only 1 week, who were planning on naming Oliver! We also have one miracle, Hazel, who is 18mos old. Is it okay if I join in here?
Welcome Laura, I am Linda, in the process (very close just waiting on a date) of adopting a 5 year old girl (Katie) and 2 year old boy (Aiden), (my niece and nephew) through foster care. I have had Katie off and on since she was 9 months old and I have had Aiden since he was born. I also have placement of my nephew (Zac, he is 3), Katie and Aiden's sibling, but his future is still up in the air. I also have one bio son named Alex, who is 6.
This group is very slow moving but the ladies here are awesome.
Hey! Welcome! I'm Beth. I'm a foster and foster to adopt mommy. I have 3 bio kids (2 on earth and one in heaven) and one foster son who we will eventually adopt. We've had a number of other short term foster placements too.
How did your adoptive kids come to you? Did you go private adoption or ? So glad you've found us and I do hope you'll stick around!
Beth, we do Foster to Adopt. They were both placed with us after the parental rights were severed. Our oldest daughter, Matilda, was placed with us when she was 3 1/2 months old. She was put into foster care at 2 months old after severe neglect(hence her name, Matilda, if you've ever seen that movie). Once the parental rights were severed, she came to us and we adopted her! Olli was left at the hospital when he was 2 days old. Once out of the hospital, he went to foster care. After trying to find the parents and failing, he was made adoptable, and that's when we got the call for him
What great stories!! That is so unusual to get two practically newborns with no issues free and clear for adoption through the foster system, but you are proof it CAN happen! He's completely adorable, BTW.
